Maori Tamil stand angers Anderton

The Maori Party has been attacked as “disgusting” for blocking a parliamentary motion yesterday expressing concern about Sri Lankan civilians caught up in fighting between Government forces and the Tamil Tigers. The party blocked the motion in the name of Progressives leader Jim Anderton because it gave equal weight to the Sri Lankan Government and the Tigers. The Maori Party is traditionally reluctant to make comments on other countries but issued its own statement “calling for restraint from the Sri Lankan Government in dealing with the last enclave of the Tamil Tigers”. Under Parliament’s rules an MP can move a motion on any subject only if there is no objection. Waiariki MP Te Ururoa Flavell loudly objected to Mr Anderton moving his resolution. Mr Anderton said later the Maori Party had sided with “disgusting humanitarian abuse” and its behaviour was outrageous.

Shameful,that the Maori party support the state sanctioned genocide of the Tamil peoples, so much for supporting self determination or does that only apply to Maori and no one else.
I know that there are issues over there but what about Iraq,Pakistan,india,East Timor, and even NZ have issues i REALLY THINK that if our home (NZ) is cleaned up first then we can be a example to other countries and at the moment we are not.
A lot of Maori that are not on the news,that are not known,that get no benefits from these claims,etc,etc,etc they are starting to click on that thier are the rich well to do,can get away with it,twisting systems to suit thier criteria and going for a ride of the typical hard working New Zealanders backs.
We cant even put the Maori flag on the Auckland Harbour bridge,we cant even get a Maori seat on the new council set up,again we have to fight and protest WHY ? are we not Tangata whenua or are we just settlers ???
Thank god for the Joe Hawkes(Ngati Whatua)and the Pita Sharples(Maori Party)
