This is what brasses me off the most is when you get a cocky reporter like Mihingarangi who loves portraying herself as the perfect no it all and only gives her one sided version of events that have taken place with the private affairs of a company called Te Pataka Ohanga and its directors. Just like the report on sacked CEO for putting the Trust at risk of losing all training programmes with NZQA which included over 900 students and 60 trainers. It is clear to me that the report that was televised last night on Native Affairs clearly was to defame one of the most important women in my entire life who without her persistence and passion this so called reporter would not have a native tongue or a background to prove her existence. She has indicated to our Kohanga whanau that money was taken from draw down money from The Ministry of Education earmarked for Kohanga Reo. I am a founding member of this kaupapa and have promoted and upheld the philosophy of Kohanga Reo since its inception and at one stage managing 108 centres in Kahungunu from 1990 to 2000.
Then managing 58 in 2008 and I dare anyone to test my credentials on this kaupapa and there a lot of you whanau that have not been on the kaupapa for years. Te Pataka Ohanga does not survive on mokopuna funds that is why there is no problem with The Ministry of Education or Te Puni Kokiri. Te Pataka Ohanga is the company that got Kohanga subsidised purchases like vans, white ware, playgrounds, buildings, petrol cards. Te Pataka Ohanga is the reason why we don’t pay exorbitant costs or retails prices. The company is a complete stand alone and answerable to no one like all other companies so before you whanau start crying about money stolen from mokopuna or how dare they the true facts aren’t out there. If you were all inducted properly into the kaupapa you would know the purpose of Te Pataka Ohanga and realise it was that company and only that company that was able to supply your Kohanga Reo with brand new equipment not second hand and at wholesale plus prices.
The matters that arose from the report in terms of spending I agree need addressing but at the end of the day does Mihingarangi look into the spending of the company she works for or as a matter of fact any other company including non maori. Mihingarangi you need to learn before you open your mouth get the right story first upokokohua. Companies have their own mandate and rules and regulations don’t go off half cocked looking for a promotion in your mahi only to find out it has bitten you in the arse. The consequences are your face might never be seen on television again. I would have written this all in maori as the kaupapa is Te Reo me ona Tikanga I te Ao i te Po I nga wa katoa but there are so many of you out there in Kohanga reo that only send your tamariki to learn and not yourselves. What a big put down got the cheek to talk about my kuia who gave you and your whanau an opportunity learn your language. I don’t care what you think but what Ive written I bare testimony to under the auspices of IO.
Otira e koutou mena e whakaaro ana mo tenei korero. Tuatahi me pono me tika kati. If you comment make sure you know what you are talking about like I do because I live this kaupapa[here]
